Accra, Ghana – January 20, 2026 Evangelist Patricia Asiedu, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, has agreed to pay GH¢100,000 in damages to gospel musician Empress Gifty Oppong Adorye to settle a defamation lawsuit. The case, which had attracted significant public attention, was formally adopted as a consent judgment by the Tema Land and Main Courts on Tuesday.
The lawsuit stemmed from allegations that Agradaa made defamatory remarks against Empress Gifty, which the gospel musician argued had tarnished her reputation and caused emotional distress. After months of legal proceedings, both parties reached an agreement that saw Agradaa accept liability and commit to paying the damages. The court’s adoption of the settlement as a consent judgment makes the resolution legally binding and enforceable.
This ruling marks another chapter in Agradaa’s long history of legal controversies, following her earlier conviction for fraud and charlatanic advertisement. For Empress Gifty, the judgment is seen as a vindication of her stance against public defamation in Ghana’s entertainment and religious circles. The case has also reignited conversations about accountability in public discourse, with many observers noting that the outcome could serve as a deterrent against reckless statements in the media space.
