President John Dramani Mahama has officially cut sod for the construction of 2,000 housing units dedicated to the Ghana Armed Forces. The initiative is part of a broader effort to improve the welfare of military personnel by addressing long-standing accommodation challenges within the service.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mahama emphasized that decent housing is essential for the morale and operational readiness of the armed forces. He noted that the project reflects a commitment to ensuring that those who safeguard the nation’s security enjoy improved living standards, thereby strengthening their capacity to serve effectively.
The housing project is expected to ease congestion in existing military barracks and provide modern facilities for personnel and their families. Analysts view the development as a significant investment in national security infrastructure, highlighting the importance of balancing defense responsibilities with the welfare of service members.
