Former MASLOC CEO Faces U.S. Court TODAY.

Accra, Jan. 21, 2026 – Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu, the former Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), is appearing before a United States judge today in a case that will determine whether she is extradited to Ghana to face charges of financial mismanagement.

Tamkloe-Attionu was arrested by U.S. Marshals earlier this month. Ghana’s ambassador to the United States confirmed the arrest but disclosed that embassy officials have not yet been granted access to her. The extradition hearing is expected to be a pivotal moment in Ghana’s ongoing efforts to hold former public officials accountable for alleged corruption.

Tamakloe-Attionu served as MASLOC CEO during the Mahama administration. She has been accused of misappropriating state funds and faces multiple charges in Ghana related to financial irregularities. Her case has drawn significant public attention, with many viewing it as a test of Ghana’s resolve to pursue accountability beyond its borders.

If the U.S. court rules in favor of extradition, Tamakloe-Attionu will be returned to Ghana to stand trial. The decision could set a precedent for how Ghana collaborates with international partners in tackling financial crimes. Analysts say the case underscores the growing importance of cross-border cooperation in addressing corruption and safeguarding public funds.
