NAIMOS Officer Shot During Anti-Illegal Mining Operation in Bono Region

Dormaa Central, Bono Region – Jan. 21, 2026 – A member of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) task force sustained gunshot wounds during a confrontation with armed assailants along the Subinkurom–Kyeremasu stretch in the Dormaa Central Municipality.

According to the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, the incident occurred on Tuesday, January 20, when the task force came under fire while conducting an operation against illegal mining activities. One of the attackers, identified as Abuu Ibrahim, was shot dead during the exchange.
