Ghana is set to enhance access to quality education through the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools developed in local languages, Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has announced.
The Minister made the disclosure in a Facebook post on Friday, January 23, 2026, after engaging with Google’s Vice President at the ongoing Generative AI Summit in the United Kingdom. The discussions focused on leveraging AI-driven solutions to transform education delivery and improve learning outcomes across Ghana and the wider African continent.

According to Mr. Iddrisu, the use of AI tools tailored to local languages will help bridge learning gaps and make education more inclusive. “Through the use of AI tools developed in our local languages, we can significantly improve access to quality education and learning outcomes in Ghana and across Africa,” he stated.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to integrate technology into Ghana’s education system and aligns with ongoing digital transformation goals. By adopting AI-powered learning tools that reflect local languages and contexts, the government aims to ensure that more students, regardless of background or location, can benefit from modern educational resources.
The move also highlights the importance of strategic partnerships between governments and global technology firms in advancing education and innovation across Africa.
